Statement by the Embassy of France in Ethiopia and to the African Union

Recent allegations on social media regarding arms exports from France to Ethiopia are false. No arms sales have been concluded in recent years.

France strictly complies with its international engagements, including the Arms Trade Treaty adopted by the UN General Assembly of 2 April 2013 as well as the EU Council Common Position 2008/944/CFSP of 8 December 2008.

France therefore exercises rigorous control over arms exports.
