Signing ceremony of the EUNIC Ethiopia Charter
A signing ceremony of the EUNIC (European Union National Institutes for Culture) charter for Ethiopia was held at the Embassy of France in Ethiopia, the 20th of October 2017.
At the invitation of the French ambassador, and in presence of the head of Delegation of the European Union, the charter was signed by Spanish and Portuguese ambassadors and by the heads of European cultural centers in Ethiopia (Ethio-French Alliance of Addis Abeba and Dire Dawa, Goethe Institute, Italian Cultural Institute, British Council).
EUNIC is a cultural network created in 2006 which intends to promote cultural diversity and mutual understanding across cultures, through the development of common cultural projects and stronger partnerships, based on the founding values of the European Union.
Through this EUNIC Ethiopia cooperative agreement and cluster, EU countries intend to develop further their commitment and activities in the field of culture in Ethiopia.
The European Film Festival, which will be held in Addis Ababa in November 2017, with screenings scheduled at the National Theater, is a valuable example of what can be achieved through an improved cooperation between EU countries.
