Konso museum

On December 18, 2009, in the presence of the Ethiopian Secretary of State for culture and tourism, the Director of the Africa Desk of the French ministry of European Foreign affairs and the ambassador of France to Ethiopia. the Konso Museum was officially inaugurated in the town of Kyriat Konso, in the extreme south of the country. The Museum, was particularly dedicated to preserve and present the wakas, statues and Konso funeral wood .
This achievement, the outcome of the partnership between France and Ethiopia, was in response to the seizure in 1996, by the Ethiopian customs official of two hundred wakas intended for the black .market
