French-Ethiopian military cooperation ceremony
The French-Ethiopian military cooperation ceremony of the 11th of october 2018 was the occasion to celebrate several events, underlying the close links between our two defence forces, especially in peacekeeping programs:
The release of a movie about the French-Ethiopian cooperation, 65 years ago, during the first peacekeeping operation in Korea. This movie has been issued after the visit of 12 French War Veterans in Addis-Ababa, last June 2018, in order to pay a tribute to their Ethiopian comrades on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the armistice of the Korean War. This film, financed by the French Company Thales, has been realised by Tewedaje media & co.
The graduation ceremony for the students of the French language military teaching program. Since 1999, the French language teaching program has trained more than 5 000 attendees in the Ethiopian defence and security institutions. This program aims at contributing to the capacity-building of Ethiopian National defence Forces and at supporting the commitment of their troops in peacekeeping operations.
The feast-day of Saint Michel which is the patron saint of the French paratroopers. France and Ethiopia are long-term partners on capacity-building in this operational skill and many Ethiopian paratroopers have jumped from French aircrafts. This cooperation will be renewed in the next weeks.
The commemoration of the battle of Bazeilles, where the French army showed its commitment, sacrifice and bravery, during the Franco-Prussian war in 1870.
