Ethiopian Prime Minister invited to Paris to prepare COP21
Mr François Hollande, President of the Republic of France, received five African Heads of State and Government, including Mr Hailemariam Dessalegn, Prime Minister of Ethiopia, at the Elysée Palace on 10 November 2015.
The objective of the meeting was to prepare the Paris Climate Conference, 20 days before its opening.
The French presidency stands ready to listen to suggestions and proposals from African countries, in order to ensure that we reach a universal, ambitious and lasting agreement in Paris.
Africa is a key partner in the negotiations. It is also the most vulnerable continent to climate change.
In the same spirit, Mr Laurent Fabius, French Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, received the African Ministers taking part in the pre-COP meeting for a working dinner to be attended by Mrs Annick Girardin, Minister of State for Development and Francophonie. Dr Shiferaw Teklemariam, Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, took part in the meeting.
