Emergency food aid
On April 6, 2010, the French government offered 400,000 euros in support of food aid programs, implemented by the Ethiopian ministry of health in partnership with UNICEF. This contribution is intended for seriously malnourished children in the Somali, Oromia, Amhara, and Tigray regions, and finally in the southern peoples’ Nations and nationalities region.
During the handing-over ceremony of this donation, the French ambassador greeted the efforts of the Ethiopian authorities in establishing the National Nutrition Programs and devising the National Nutrition Strategy, which include emergency food interventions in many difficult circumstances. Mr. Belliard moreover pointed out that France was committed to maintaining its support for Ethiopia in this field, jointly with UNICEF and WFP.
