Bastille Day Celebrations in Ethiopia
On Monday July 15, Ms Brigitte Collet, Ambassador of France to the Federal and Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and to the African Union, hosted the National day celebrations at the French Residence in the presence of numerous guests, Ethiopian and representatives of the African Union and of the diplomatic corps, as well as members of the French community. During the reception was displayed the military parade which took place on the 14th in Paris.
Ambassador Collet highlighted the strong commitment of France in favour of peace and development in Africa, and its support to the prominent and increasing role of the African Union in these fields. She underlined that French President F. Hollande came recently to Addis Ababa to take part in the ceremonies of the 50th Anniversary of the creation of the Organization of African Unity (which became the African Union).
Ambassador Collet also highlighted the friendship between France and Ethiopia, illustrated this year by the visit of Prime Minister Haïlemariam Dessalegn in Paris. She underlined the commitment of French and Ethiopian leaders to strengthen our partnership in the political, economic and cultural fields.
She thanked the French community for its prominent role in the development of Ethiopia and underlined the importance of its action for France.
