Award Ceremony of the Quality Label "French Teaching in Ethiopia" for the German Embassy School [fr]
The German Embassy School is the first school which received the Quality Label, on Tuesday 22nd of October 2019 at the Residence of France in the presence of His Excellency Mr. Frédéric Bontems, Ambassador of France to Ethiopia and to the African Union, Mr. Matthias Schauer, Deputy Head of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr. Amde Akalework, Chairman of the Alliance Ethio-Française of Addis Ababa and Dr. Martin Nutz, Head of the German Embassy School.
Since September 2018, the Embassy of France and both Alliance Ethio-Française of Addis Ababa and of Dire Dawa have proposed a "French teaching in Ethiopia" Quality Label to establishments providing French courses. This Label is awarded for a period of 4 years on the basis of a reference system which concerns both the level of language and teacher training, the certifications for learners and pedagogic resources approved by the European Council.
The German Embassy School currently meets all criteria for this label.
Around 200 persons including a hundred french learners and their families were present for this official ceremony of awarding the Label held at the Residence of the Embassy of France.
This event also presented the opportunity for the signature of five partnership agreements with Ethiopian universities and schools (Gibson School and Fountain of Knowledge), as well as higher institutions (Gondar university, Ibex College, St Mary University).
