Airbus and Ethiopian Airlines celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Elysee Treaty
In the framework of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the Elysee Treaty, organised by the Embassies of France and Germany in Addis Ababa, Airbus and Ehtiopian Airlines teamed up to offer “Little Engineer” workshops to about a hundred children from Ethiopian schools, the French High School and the German School. This activity, much appreciated by the children, enabled them to discover the interest of technology in a playful manner, by assembling small robots.
Airbus and Ethiopian Airlines also organised a conference on Wednesday, 13 March. Both Ambassadors opened that event by a joint speech (read full speech) in which they underlined the importance of the Franco-German partnership for the creation and development of Airbus, a European “success story”. They applauded the new contract won by Airbus in Ethiopia. Fourteen A 350 will be delivered to Ethiopian Airlines, starting from 2016.
During that conference, Airbus presented its analysis of the evolution of the African aeronautics market (presentation here). Chief Executive Officer of Ethiopian Airlines, Ato Tewolde, then outlined his company’s strategy for the upcoming decade. Among the numerous participants, the attendance of Ato Berhane, State Minister for Foreign Affairs should be noted.
