AFD’s 20th anniversary in Ethiopia
On December 18th 2017, the French Embassy organized a reception to celebrate 20 years of commitment of the French Development Agency (AFD) in Ethiopia.
The event gathered around 150 guests and was the occasion to hear speeches from its development partners, as well as to showcase a series of photographs representing its main projects in the country.
The City Manager for Addis-Ababa, the Managing Director of Ethiopian Airlines, the Minister of State for Public Enterprises and the Minister of State for Finances and Cooperation spoke alongside with the Agency’s director, Mr Ignace Monkam-Daverat. They all underlined the good quality of their relationship with the AFD. The Ambassador of France concluded by stressing the key role of AFD in the building of the bilateral relationship between Ethiopia and France.
The ceremony marked the closing of a series of workshops organized all along 2017, which addressed public policies topics that are key to Ethiopia : urban planning and sustainable management, public-private partnerships and public enterprises governance and non-sovereign financing.
Since 1997, AFD has committed more than 525 M Euros in the country, specifically in the areas of urban development, renewable energy, private sector support and job creation.
